Poliochni is the oldest city in Europe, and is located on the east coast of Lemnos island, opposite the city of Troy.
Poliochni started as a small Neolithic village during the 4th millennium BC and it developed in a thriving city of Copper.
Moreover, the excavations which were conducted by the Italian Archaeological University and took place in the island for many years, have proved the existence of a Neolithic civilization in Poliochni.
It is believed to have had the first “Vouleftirio” (Congress Hall) of the civilized world.
