4th century B.C. The Tower of the Classical Times, a defensive building, consisting of five floors was constructed from schist and marble. It is a rare example of massive stone square tower and one of the finest existing Greek towers with 10 m length in every side and a height of 20 m (one of the highest existing monuments in the Mediterranean). A big part of the tower collapsed in 1858 after a powerful earthquake. Today the condition of the tower has reached a critical point. For this reason, the Greek Company of Environment and Culture is raising money for the restoration of the tower.
