The Vorres Museum was founded in 1983 and is a cultural institution which is divided into two museums, the Museum of Modern Greek Art and Folk Museum. Its purpose is the promotion of Greek art, culture and history.
Through the organization of art exhibitions, educational programs and activities for the kids museum tries to raise the Greek art and history. Besides, the structure of the complex of museums is precisely in this view of the Greek spirit.
On the one hand the Museum of contemporary Greek art takes us through decades of Greek art, and the collection of sculptures, structures, and other artistic creations especially from the second half of the 20th century, therefore makes it the guardian for a significant part of the Greek cultural heritage. On the other hand is the folklore museum which houses the collection of antiquities, folk artifacts, ceramics and many items from the past of everyday life in Greece. The museum is surrounded by gardens of Mediterranean flora, creating the ultimate image of Greece to the visitor.
