Xilagani is a large village in the prefecture of Rhodope. The area is rural with large irrigated plains of crops, which most of them are cotton and grains crops. It is 17 km from Komotini and has 1,180 residents based on the 2011 census. Xilagani has rich archaeological finds, which include parts of Acropolis and tombs with grave goods. The ancestors of the inhabitants of Xilagani came to the area after the population exchanges with Bulgaria in the years 1924-1925, originated from Eastern Rumelia, namely from the villages Grand Bogialiki and Ntoganovo of the area of Kavakli, today is known as Topologkrant, north of Adrianople.
