The Military Museum of Chromonastiri is located in the traditional village of Chromonastiri, 11 km from Rethymnon.
The building that houses the museum is of special architectural interest as it is a Venetian villa of the 17th century. It was a country
house of a noble Venetian family named "Claudio".
Outside the museum are fascinating exhibits such as helicopters, aircraft, tanks, artillery of the Greek Army, in their actual dimensions,
of the Battle of Crete as well as by the First and Second World War.
Inside, the museum includes a room with a wide range of models and the Greek army uniforms, weapons and medals and two rooms containing important relics from 1821 to today.
The museum hosts events that promote the culture of the region, such as concerts, theatre, book presentations, lectures and educational exhibitions.
