The Committee for Pontian Studies, with the establishment and operation of the Museum of Pontian Hellenism, responds first of all to the sentimental needs of the generation of Pontian refugees. It also responds to the vital and unanimous interest of the younger generation of Hellenes and also of foreigners for an accurate and complete picture of the Hellenes of Pontos (S.E. Coast of the Black Sea). The Museum provides them with the material needed to learn what the Pontos was and what the history and civilization that evolved there were, what its relationship with Greece and the rest of the world was etc.
The Museum of Pontian Hellenism, a foundation open to the public, is appropriate for learning and studying every aspect of the civilization of this branch of Hellenism, as it has evolved in the Asia Minor area throughout the centuries until 1922, but also as it is preserved and is being developed today by the Hellenes of Pontian origin living in Greece and abroad.
