The story of the Peppas family begins in 1958, when Andreas Peppas with his spouse Ekaterini made a small, traditional wine-press with ‘tsipouries’ and some barrels for the storage of wine. It was an era of hardship but with plenty of love for the vine and the wine, they succeed in 1963 to establish the company “Winery Andreas Peppas”.
In 1968 Georgios Peppas - son of Andreas and Ekaterini- took over the winery and the vineyards and changed their structure and operations entirely. Motivated with the family love for the wine, he upgraded the wine factory and made it one of the most modern units of its time, by buying new equipment, as well as acquiring new vineyards and simultaneously changing them into linear.
In 1983 he builds the present winery of the family, next to the older one, and sets the base for the existing modern unit.
In 1991 the winery is taken over by his sons Andreas and Konstantinos Peppas who are the Third Generation of the family (in Greek ‘Triti Yenia’). Having grown-up in the winery and the vines and with the help of their father but also the experience of their grandfather, they begin their own way in the family tradition of vinification and cultivation.
In 1997 the modernization of the winery begins and continues up to now. New stainless reservoirs and wine makers, cooling instruments, stabilizer, and filters were acquired amongst others. In addition, the vineyards are renewed and doubled so as to offer the largest concentration of quality combined with low output per acre.
In 2002 the bottling section is constructed while the winery has an underground area for the aging of wine in barrels.
In 2006 the Peppas family takes one more step, by bottling three wines representative and worthy of its long experience in cultivation and vinification.
In 2007 the family continues with the bottling of one more wine, which is VQPRD Nemea, production 2006, aged in new oak, french barrels.
