Iero beach is located in the Northeastern part of Ikaria, near the airport.
It is a relatively deserted beach and not well known to visitors, as until recently, there was no access to it.
Its name comes from the myth, that in that area God Dionysus was born and his temple was found in a nearby cave.
It is a small bay and is mixed with sand and small pebbles, throughout its extent. It is not busy nor organized.
Iero is ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling. A small sea cave of Dionysus near the beach, is waiting to be explored! West of the beach there is the wreck of a cargo ship.
Access:
Iero beach is accessible only by private car from the main road leading to Faros, making a detour to the airport.
