CATSACOULIS is the oldest olive oil company in Greece, founded in 1863 on the island of Lesbos (Mytilene). From the start we were export-oriented, as the extra virgin olive oil of our island is strongly appreciated abroad. Early on we gave priority to conditioning the product in small packages adapted to the needs of the consumer. Continuous investments over the years have assured that modern technology is utilized in the production and commercialization of olive oil. At the same time we have been active in the collective organization of the olive oil sector through the Chamber of Commerce of Lesbos and the Greek Association of Industries and Processors of Olive Oil (SEVITEL).
Superior category olive oil obtained directly from olives and solely by mechanical means.
The island of Lesbos has a unique ecosystem: high mountains, abundant rain and yet the longest hours of sunshine all over Greece! On this island a rare olive variety - Kolovi - has been nurtured since ancient times.

NISSA - Olive Oil
NISSA olive oil was first produced in 1863 in the Greek island of Lesbos, one of the most famous olive-growing regions of the Mediterranean. Its excellent quality and unique mild taste, its golden colour and fine flavour enrich your meals in an unforgettable, delicious way.
In its desire to protect the high quality and unique characteristics (colour, aroma, flavour) of Lesbos olive oil, which are inextricably associated with its place of origin, the European Community has officially designated Lesbos as a Protected Geographical Indication (P.G.I.) of olive oil.
In Lesbos, olive groves are small and belong to a multitude of farmers who tend to the needs of the trees with loving care throughout the year. When the season comes they pick up the olives by hand, mostly with the help of relatives and friends, and bring them to the mill. The centrifugal presses are modern, clean and efficient. The olives are pressed within 24 hours of picking, at moderate temperatures (less than 27 degrees C), each lot separately, and the oil is placed for storage in stainless steel tanks according to quality.
In our factory the olive oil is first of all carefully controlled both from a chemical and an organoleptic point of view. Then it is left to settle before being filtered. We strive to achieve a product with consistently optimum characteristics, known and appreciated by the consumers. The whole factory is conceived so as to assure an impeccable hygiene. Every operation follows the guidelines of the HACCP (Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points) plan, which lay down all the necessary measures for a safe product of high quality. Our management system is certified by Bureau Veritas according to the ISO 9001:2000 quality standard.
We export all over the world to countries as diverse as Germany and Japan, Australia and Finland. We also sell to connoisseurs of olive oil in Italy, Spain and France. Everywhere we strive to adapt to the local conditions and satisfy the specific needs of our customers. This is maybe the secret of our longevity!
