In the Province of Serres, 250 meters above sea level at the foot hills of the mythical and gold bearing Mount Pangeo, is found the fertile soil and idle climate for vineyards. Here the Wine Roads of Macedonia encounter a family owned winery.
The varieties of grapes produced include: Ugni Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc for the white wine and Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for the red wine which is produced in our small winery. The bottles are easily recognizable by there distincive label design.
White wine label: The white wine is distinguished by its bright golden color with greenish highlights, its floral and fruity aroma, intense aftertaste and distinct tartness. It is a wine best served at 11°C and harmonizes beautifully with white meat, seafood and pasta.
Red wine label: The red wine, which is matured in oak casks, presents a silken ruby color with a floral aroma with dry fruit and nutty overtones, is a perfect accompaniment to red meat with rich sauces, game and savoury meals. It is best served at 18°C.
These products, the proud marriage of skill and science, create the idle pairing and enhance the dishes they accompany, inducing a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction in the consumer. It is this which leads the Pagona family to set new goals for the future.
We refer to the Pagona family of Kormista village in the municipality of Amphipolis, which began the production of commercial wine in 2003. From generation to generation before that the small vineyard had been lovingly cultivated for the production of the family's wine. This long history of wine making combined with the professional studies of Dimosthenis Pagonas has led to the professional cultivation of the vineyards. The vineyard has been expanded to 30 stremmata (7,5 acres) where a variety of grapes is grown.
