"SYROU EDESMATA SMALL-SCALE FOOD INDUSTRY S.A.", publicly known as “Syrou Edesmata”, has its headquarters on the island of Syros. The company is involved in the production, packing and trading of local traditional products. Our goal is the marketing of traditional products closely related to the island of Syros and the increase in popularity of the island’s unique tastes, emphasizing on caper and fennel. Spreading the word about those two remarkable traditional products presented in alternative forms and through proven recipes, like a pie (Fennel Pie) and a spoon sweet (caper), is our main target and a challenge to us.
These two products (caper and fennel) are first offered by our company in these forms and our company has filed a patent application in the Greek Industrial Copyrights Organization about them. Our workshop is headquartered in Hermoupoli, Syros, and is an original handmade products production facility that combines the traditional standard with the power of technology. All raw materials our company uses are original Greek traditional locally produced products. The crust for the pies is handmade, coated with original Greek olive oil and stuffed with tasty traditional products, like “feta” cheese, “San Michalis” cheese (a locally produced cheese from Syros), traditional sausages from Syros and more. The same thing applies to jams and spoon sweets, which combine Greek fruit and vegetables with dried nuts and herbs (all of which are gathered by us and dried in our facility), packed and traded with the strictest hygiene rules applied. All these combinations prove and certify our products’ authenticity, since this is a flavour combination coming out from the original Greek daily routine and tradition.
Our company has its own production workshop at its disposal, with strictly organized facilities and new equipment, large workbenches for the production of handmade products and publicly allowed facility entrance in order for our customers to see and “realize with their own eyes” the production and packing process. Our production process’ main branches are the selection of raw materials and their good storage conditions, the pure traditional ingredients we use, our island’s discrete local products, the new recipes, the care with which everything is produced and the respect to our customers and our partnership procedures. We would like our partners’ network to be grown nice and steadily so our customers can find our products not only on our island, but also in good restaurants and delicatessen stores throughout the country and abroad, too.
Our commitment is to highlight our tradition at maximum, without even distorting it, by using pure traditional ingredients and raw material and by making our products according to traditional production methods.
