Mrs Eftichia Chatzimanolakis, having learned from her mother Sofia the authentic Cretan flavors during her childhood, kept this philosophy until today.
This precious knowledge her sons, Giorgos and Panagiotis Chatzimanolakis, decided to offer to the public by opening a small taverna in 1995 in Ano Stalos, Chania, Crete.
"Leventis" started to serve for the first time unknown dishes from the Cretan villages, like the onion pies ("kremmidokalitsouna"), smoked pork ("apaki"), beans with pasta, octopus with local aromatic greens ("avronies").
Taverna "Leventis" was embraced by the public as well as the food critics/food columnists, winning many gourmet awards, exceptional reviews, and tributes in foreign media like BBC2.
Taverna "Leventis" participates in the Cluster of Cretan Olive Oil Products Enterprises ("Elaiogefsies", restaurants with exclusive use of Cretan virgin olive oil), using only extra virgin olive oil.
