The lighthouse of the Venetian port of Rethymno was built by the Egyptians during the decade of 1830, when the Turks handed Crete to the Egyptians. The height of the lighthouse tower is 9 meters and the height of focal plane is 49 meters.
The lighthouse of Rethymno is the second largest remaining Egyptian Lighthouse in Crete, after the lighthouse of Chania.
