Agia Roumeli is located in southwest Crete, in the Sfakia region.
The beach is a popular tourist destination as there is one access for Samaria Gorge, the longest gorge in Greece, and one of the longest in Europe, measuring 18 km.
The coast has black pebbles and crystal clear deep waters of the Libyan Sea.
The beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas and taverns where the visitors can enjoy traditional Cretan dishes.
The access to Agia Roumeli is possible either through the gorge of Samaria or from the sea by a boat from Sougia, Paleochora, Loutro or Sfakia. During the summer months there are several daily boat routes.
