The first parish of Vari was established around this church. It was built in 1856 and its inauguration ceremony had taken place in 1857. It is located on top of the main hill of the area. The church was founded by Bishop Iosif Alvertis and it was dedicated to the Immaculate Conception of Virgin Mary. A majestic holy icon which stands before the chancel, was given as a gift by the Roman Cardinal Barnabò in 1858.
Near the foundations of this old church, a newer, three-naved church was built in 1973.
The annual celebrations of this church are held on December 8th.
