Kameno Cave

Kameno Spilio (Burnt Cave in English) is located at ‘Amiglai’, at a distance of 8km from Nimborios.

In 1658, Venetian fleet-admiral Fransesco Morosini, lit a large fire at the mouth of the cave and this burnt the Halkians hiding inside it.

And so Morosini was able to exact his revenge on the island’s inhabitants, who had warned the Rhodians in time and had thus got in the way of  Morosini’s attack and effort to conquer Rhodes.
