The name of this church either derives from the Latin word pax -cis, (which means peace) or from a preexisting ancient temple dedicated to a goddess with the epithet Epikoos which means she who listens to prayers. In Christian times, the name Epikoos (she who listens) was changed into Agia Ypakoi, which means Saint Obedience.
This beautiful, calm catholic chapel is located on the top of the hill from where you can admire a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Chr. Tsoundas, an archaeologist and an explorer had found traces of an ancient acropolis right near the chancel of the church and several ancient tombs of that time, which expand to the south of the hill. From there, you can follow the path which leads to the Armeos beach.
