Middle Trikala is a beautiful village, with a very pleasant climate and a panoramic view.
It was always in the ‘shadow’ of Upper Trikala. The noble families of Zouzoulas, Kakrides, Tsaldaris, Ioannou that lived in the Middle district were, in a way, rivals of the powerful Notaras, Dassei, etc. families. It is no coincidence that these families did not descend to Xylokastro following the area’s liberation from the Turks, but chose to stay in Sykia instead.
During the Turkish occupation the inhabitants of the area were primarily farmers.
In the past quite a few tourists gathered here.
1900: The single-seated village school is built.
1935: Hotel ‘Zireia’, owned by the Pagalos brothers, is built.
