Aliki is a coastal salt lake extending to over 6.300 acres, located on the east part of Lemnos island.
In the summer, the lake dries up, leaving a layer of salt.
Aliki is a wetland of particular importance, while in the winter months it is home to migratory birds and has the highest seasonal population of flamingos in Europe.
The area is incorporated into the NATURA 2000 network of protected land.
The salt lake can be seen from space!
