Dapia is the commercial center and the heart of the island of Spetses, the square of the Greek Independence War of 1821, with the cannons, the neoclassical mansions and the picturesque narrow stone paths. The town of Spetses covers an area of around 4 km along the northern coast of the island.
Around the square you will find not only most of the stores but also the most important museums of the island. Dapia is also the new port of Spetses, where flying doplhins arrive from Piraues. From Dapia, one side of the coastal street leads to the Old Port to the East (2 km), while the other side leads to the Schools to the West (1,5 km). The walk on the coastal street is literally a live history lesson, which is probably one of the reasons why visitors come to Spetses again and again.
Dapia is also the starting point for the streets to the mainland and the southern beaches of Spetses.
Dapia is the herat of Spetses; a port, a commercial center with lots of shops and cafés, the place where you can buy newspapers and a meeting point.
