Bekiris Cave is a cave near the beach of Agioi Anargyroi, that was used by the Greek Revolutionnairies during the Revolution of 1821 as a shelter from the Turks.
Inside the cave you will admire the impressive stalctite formations. Walking on the path that starts from the entrance of the case, you will see a small spot iwhich s covered with sand.
Bekiris cave is accessible by land and sea. The path starts from the new harbour, goes through a small trekking path surrounded by pines and leads to the entrance of the cave, which is a small, narrow passage.

According to the locals, the cave was named after a hermit, Bekiris, who lived there.
Another story suggests that during an attack from Turks, Spetiot Revolutionnaries were hiding in the cave, until Bekiris betrayed them and the Turks finally killed them. Then, according to the story, the water was painted red and it was visible even outside the cave.
