The church of Agios Ioannis Chrysostomos (St John) is one of the eight churches that are considered to be monuments of particular architectural value and are protected by the Ministry of Culture.
It was built in 17th Century and is located in the Northern part of the Castle.
According to legend, the woman that built the church, defaced, with the heel of her shoe, the Icon of John Chrysostomos found in the church, after her son, a priest, drowned.
It has two aisles of unequal width and a beautiful wood-crafted iconostasis.
The Temple has, in the past, served as a Metropolitan Church.
