The Holy Temple of the Birth of Christ (Gennisi tou Christou) is one of the eight churches that are considered to be monuments of particular architectural value and are protected by the Ministry of Culture.
Built in 1592, it is the oldest church on the island and is located in the Inner Castle.
It is a two-aisled, basilica, with a flat roof. The inhabitants of the island used to take refuge here during pirate attacks.
