Gone Surfing Crete is a Windsurf Center located in the Eastern part of Crete Island close to the well known village of Palekastro, on Kouremenos Beach. Crete is a remote and independent island that provides everything a Greek island can offer and more. For most windsurfers, Crete is an ideal place to live. It is rich in history and natural beauty and is the birthplace of some of the best windsurfers in Greece. It provides world class windsurfing conditions: from flat waters and guaranteed wind in the summer months, to world class conditions for freestyle windsurfing and wave surfing all year round. Apart from perfect surf condition the island of Crete is majestically beautiful with mountainous landscapes, long and beautiful coast lines, canyons, waterfalls and crystal clear blue waters. During your stay in Kouremenos you can easily visit the surrounding traditional villages, towns and harbors, visit the ancient ruins and try the local delicious cuisine.
The Gone Surfing Center is equipped with both the experience and knowledge to provide quality training and services. We are passionate about windsurfing and watersports, we love being in the water and anything to do with the sea. Our goal is to spread the infectious love for surfing. It doesn't matter if it is your first time uphauling a sail, or if you plan to learn a forward loop, we aim to make your surfing dreams materialize.
Our center has be running for two years and already we are renowned amongst the windsurfing community for our excellent teaching methods and services. People choose to take lessons with us not only because of the friendly and inviting environment but also because we offer the best possible equipment.
We offer the best wave sails from the brand NORTH. We provide the Volt HD for the windy days because it is a soft enough sail and is easy to handle on the windy days. The Volt HD is also excellent for freeriding. On lighter winds we offer the E-type. For beginners and children we have specialized NORTH beginner’s sails and children’s rigs, which are light and stable and aid the learning process.
We rig the sails with 70%-80% and 100% RDM masts so that our sails can perform at their best. Low percentage carbon masts and badly rigged sail can result in catapults and ‘nervous’, unbalanced sails. We avoid this problem by perfectly rigging our every sail. We also tend to important details, like having mast foot protectors to prevent injuries to the toes. Maximising your time in the water is our priority.
