This cave was the winter dwelling of the ancient philosopher Pherecydes. It is located behind Ryhopò, in the area of Kyperoussa.
The foot trail that leads to the cave offers an amazingly beautiful sight of earth and sea which unfolds before the visitor's eyes. The arrival to the cave and the view of the Aegean from its interior is a really rewarding experience.
This location is related to a myth according to which, Pherecydes's flock of 2.000 sheep was crushed in the cave where he kept them after an earthquake and that their blood flowed like a river down to the shore.
