Nimfea is a mountain village (alt. 550 m) and it’s located in Rhodope, 18 km north of Komotini. All the houses in Nimfea are stone coated and have wooden roofs and slate surface mining. The village is well connected to the natural environment. More precisely it’s adapted to it. It uses the physical terrain, the leeward of the location and has good views to the west where is located the valley of the fort. The use of local materials (stone, earth, wood) helped to achieve a complete harmonization of structured data with the natural environment. Typical facades are plastered and painted with bright indigo colour, something that makes the village special.
